W.S.L.Co. Bridge Tender’s Shack at River Bridge, California - Circa 1960

Photo is of assembled, production run kit.

The prototype for this kit is the replacement bridge tender’s shack at one end of the Westside Lumber Co.’s River Bridge in Toulumne, California as it appeared around 1960. A watchman was stationed at each of the major bridges along the railroad to check for and combat fires. While the prototype of this building is a bridge tender’s shack, this kit would look good as a cabin, shack, or any of a number of small buildings often found along railroads and in the woods. A Woods Outhouse, FMW-1514, is included.

This high quality, O Scale, polyurethane kit features the following:

  • 11 polyurethane castings.
  • All doors and windows cast into walls as one piece for easy construction.
  • Grandt Line stack casting.
  • Includes a Woods Outhouse, FMW-1514.
  • Easy to follow, illustrated instructions by FMW.

Free-Lance Woods Outhouse

Photo is of assembled, production run kit.

This kit is a free-lanced version of a typical outhouse found in many back woods areas and would be at home on any layout in a number of different situations. Such as behind residences in a town or out in the country, behind businesses, and next to many railroad structures. This inexpensive kit is an excellent structure with which to familiarize yourself with the polyurethane castings from which it is made and to practice your building and weathering techniques. As this kit is comprised entirely of polyurethane castings, most of the glue joints can be repeatedly dissolved the appropriate solvent and re-glued; without harming the castings. This also means that any paint you apply can be easily removed without the possibility of permanently harming the model. Feel free to experiment!

This high quality, O Scale, polyurethane kit features the following:

  • 5 polyurethane castings.
  • All doors and windows cast into walls as one piece for easy construction.
  • Easy to follow, illustrated instructions by FMW.

Nevada County Narrow Gauge RR Depot at Chicago Park, California

Photo is of assembled, production run kit.

The prototype for this kit was built in 1908 along the recently realigned mainline of the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad, a few miles from Colfax in Chicago Park, California. The depot was built to serve the growing needs of the surrounding agricultural area known as “Chicago Park.” While a town never developed as planned, the fruit grown in the area became an important source of revenue for the railroad. The depot served as a post office until 1916, and a large fruit packing shed was built next to the depot in 1926. With the improvement of the local roads, trucks finally took over the shipping business. The railroad was abandoned and scrapped in 1942 and the buildings were sold off. The freight portion of the depot remained as a storehouse until 1967. The sides of the depot are mirror images of each other, so the track can be placed on either side of the building, or both! While this kit represents a specific prototype, we believe this small, functional, and attractive depot would be a great addition to any narrow or standard gauge, O scale layout.

Newly developed by FMW, this high quality, O Scale, polyurethane kit features the following:

  • Highly detailed, accurate, polyurethane castings.
  • One-piece lower floor, platform, and freight room foundation for easy construction.
  • All doors and windows cast into walls as one piece for easy construction.
  • Sides are mirror images of each other, the track will fit on either side!
  • Easy to follow, illustrated instructions by FMW.

Mich.-Cal. Style Loggers’ Cabin

Photo is of assembled, production run kit.

This kit was inspired by the Michigan-California Lumber Company’s 22′ loggers’ cabins. Typical for many logging railroads, these inexpensive, small cabins were mounted on skids so they could be easily moved from camp to camp on flat cars or log cars. These cabins usually housed between 4 and 8 loggers (if bunk beds were used), their clothing and personal belongings, and a wood stove for heat. Shower, eating, and rest room facilities were usually provided in other buildings. A must for any logging layout, these cabins can either make interesting loads or help populate your logging camps.

This all new, high quality polyurethane kit features the following:

  • 10 highly detailed, polyurethane castings.
  • All doors and windows cast into the walls as one piece for easy construction.
  • Easy to follow, illustrated instructions by FMW.

Swayne Lumber Co. Style, 2 Window, “Short” Camp Cabin

Photo is of assembled, production run kit.

This kit is intended to represent Swayne Lumber Company’s 22′ “Short” camp cabins, as originally built (with two windows). These cabins were built as needed to replace the earlier 28′ camp cabins. The original versions of these cabins had wood stoves and chimneys in the center of the rear wall, but more modern versions did not. These cabins also originally had tar paper roofs, but were eventually covered over with corrugated metal roofing as needed.
